Technical Director
We're looking for a Technical Director to work in collaboration with our Uzbekistan hub: one of Karakoram's most important centres of technical excellence. This isn't a role for someone who wants to manage from a distance. It's for someone who understands the craft deeply enough to set the standard, and who earns authority through doing, not title.
What you'll work on
You'll lead a team of engineers working across Karakoram's client engagements and internal ventures, from early-stage proof of concepts to production-grade platforms. You'll set technical direction, own quality standards, and make sure the team is building to the right spec. But leadership isn't just about holding the standard, it's about raising it. You will be the person who pushes engineers to think beyond the obvious solution. You will bring new approaches to the table without being asked. You'll also play a key role in shaping how AI is integrated across our engineering practice.
What we're looking for
10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a track record that spans both building and leading. You've managed engineers and you know what good looks like: technically and culturally. You're a strong communicator and proficient in English and Russian or Uzbek. You think in systems, not tasks. You have a genuine AI mindset: not just familiarity with the tools. You're self-directed, accountable, and you don't need to be chased.
